Rubrics

Students artwork are assessed on: concept and creativity, technical skills, composition and design, reflection and presentation.

Artist Statements

Students give their final artwork a creative title and reflect on their learning, creative-processes, and final project.

Portfolios

Students collect and review their artwork created from the entirety of the semester by reflecting on their growth and success within the class.

Class Critique

Students gather as a class to critique projects as a community. During this time students practice presenting to a large group, along with giving and receiving constructive feedback.

FORMATIVE

One-on-One Conferences

Teacher conferences with each student discussing their project ideas and next steps. During this time students ask questions specific to the individual and receive one-on-one feedback.

Warmups

Students participate in short activities or guided questions at the beginning of class to help support their ideas and knowledge within projects.

Peer Review

Students participate in presenting their in-progress projects to their peers one-on-one or in small groups. Examples: Gallery Walks and Concentric Circles

Circulation

Teacher circulates the classroom during studio time to acquire students’ comprehension and understanding.
